Summer 2014
Two weeks ago, my good friend Jesa and I were planning for our weekend getaway / my post-birthday celebration. We both decided to beat the heat by going to the coldest place in the country, Baguio. As soon as we decided when to go, we booked a hotel and bought bus tickets. Both were a smooth transaction, thanks to Agoda and Victory Liner's online ticketing system.
When we got to Victory Liner Cubao, we waited for a few minutes until our bus arrived. The bus arrived 10 minutes prior to ETD and left at exactly 6 in the morning. It was a 7 hour ride with only two stopovers, Tarlac and Sison.

First in our itinerary was Camp John Hay to surprise my cousin Jam who works at Starbucks. Her reaction was so epic I couldn't forget it. It was kinda late already so we decided to just walk around Camp John Hay and take pictures- Ahh, so many DP-potential shots!
The next day, we woke up at 4 in the morning to try to catch the sunrise at Mines View but we were a few minutes too late. It was still worth it though because for some time, we had the place to ourselves. We got to really enjoy the breathtaking view! We also went up the Cordillera World Museum beside Mines View but weren't able to take pictures because you have to register and pay first but it's okay because it doesn't really look like a museum at all- IMO.
Next stop was Burnham Park. The bike ride was worth P40/hr, we only rode the bike for 20 mins, one hour is too long I think. Then we tried the boat ride for P100. I don't know how to paddle so I let Jesa do all the paddling. Lol. I tried paddling, too, pero umikot lang ng umikot yung boat- nakakaloka!
After having lunch, we went back to Camp to try the Tree Top Adventure. It was already cloudy that time and we knew the rain would pour any moment so we only tried two rides- Silver Surfer and Superman. It was a long trekk going to these rides and we even had to go down 160 steps.
I don't have pictures of the said rides because I was too scared to hold my camera but the Silver Surfer for me was the scarier ride among the two. You have to stand in what looks like a tall seesaw facing each other. It moved really fast and the sudden stop made it more thrilling. Everytime it stops, the "Silver Surfboard" swings side to side because of the wind- the ride moves and stops for 5 times!! On the otherhand, the superman ride was like any other zipline but with more thrill. The harness is tied to your waist while your arms and legs were just hanging on metal bars. It moves backwards first and then forward. Both rides were 150ft above the ground.
I wanted to try the Tree Drop but backed out when I figured how high 60ft is. Ha ha

Then, we went to the Bell House and waited for the rain to stop. The chilly weather plus the horror-like feel of the house made the wait thrilling.
It was already past 4pm when the rain finally stopped. So instead of going to Wright Park, we tried horseback riding in Camp John Hay. For only P250.00 you get to ride a horse going up and down the mountain with only little guidance from the Manong. Upon reaching the top, there is an area there where you get to enjoy riding the horse (Feeling Haciendera moment)! I prefer this over my Wright Park experience. I think this is best for adults because it is more thrilling compared to Wright Park. The horse I rode named Jaguar made me experience why he was given such name, he went crazy and ran around- it was scary and fun at the same time.
We ended our day with a quick hangout with my cousins. We didn't get to see much of Baguio but it was really fun. We hope to see more of it when we get back! It was indeed a fun weekend for us.
